This is the second week that the children have spent time chopping and cutting vegetables for our soup. My goal is that we will have soup at least once a week until it is too hot outside! Then maybe we will be cutting vegetables for salad?
The best part: It seems they are a lot more excited to eat it when they are involved in the preparation and they feel ownership over the lunch. They devoured this soup and I realized that we didn't chop nearly enough vegetables.
Chicken Broth with Ginger and Garlic
Here are the tools they use: Safety Knives and Wavy Chopper.
A couple weeks ago it came to my attention that many of the children were not familiar with the names of BABY farm animals. So we introduced a wide variety of Farm animals materials and resources to encourage language and opportunities for discussions. The children have really enjoyed, books, songs, projects and imaginary play involving all the animals on the farm.
